Kevin Costner’s Multi-Million Dollar Divorce

Kevin Costner and his estranged wife Christine Costner have recently filed for divorce in May of 2023 at the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Barbara. The couple share 3 children together Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. The court documents have been released to the public and Christine is requesting a magnitude of things outlined in the court documents.

Among the things Christine is requesting the biggest one is child support in the amount of $248K so that the children can continue to live the lifestyle they have become accustomed to. As well as her request that Kevin pays 100% extracurricular activities, all sports fees, health care cost, and private school tuition.

These numbers differ quite a bit from court documents that were filed previously by Kevin’s attorneys. In which Kevin states there is a prenup agreement and Kevin agreed to pay $38K in child support for all 3 children in addition to covering 100% of specific cost that pertained to the children. There is no telling whether Christine will seek spousal support on top of the child support and other cost. That is something we will have to wait and see.

In a countersuit Kevin is requesting Christine to cover all his legal fees totaling in just under $100K

In the most recent court hearing Kevin was ordered to pay $129K per month in child support until the next hearing that will take place in November.

Kevin has made his living being a successful actor who has stared in many tv shows and movies, including Yellowstone, Hidden Figures, The Bodyguard. While Christine made her living designing handbags for her company Cat Bag for nearly two decades. Christine has a net worth of 7 million dollars whereas Kevin’s net worth is 250 million.

As the pair continues to fight it out in court, as a law firm we cannot stress the importance of using an attorney to help navigate you these tough times if you find yourself in this position. Regardless of whether you are fighting for millions or just battling it out for a simple custody plan. A divorce attorney dedicated to you will help.

Paralegal Kelly Chase’s Thoughts on Kevin Costner’s Divorce

$200,000 is a huge figure for child support and Costner’s legal team has claimed that he paid Baumgartner $1 million for a new house as part of the premarital agreement and that he had offered to pay the mortgage, insurance, and taxes for a year, per court documents. Often, in celebrity divorce cases with one partner who was wealthy by the time of the wedding, like Costner, the court will consider the lifestyle the less fortunate partner enjoyed but not replicate it. At a November hearing, a judge is due to rule on the enforceability of Costner and Baumgartner’s premarital agreement as a whole, having already foreshadowed where he stands by validating the clause that will evict Baumgartner.

Kevin Costner’s divorce from Christine is his second divorce. Although this divorce has a large amount of money involved, Kevin’s first marriage to Cindy Silva was ranked in the top 3 most expensive divorces of all time. Source: People Magazine
